In honor of the Burt Wood School of Performing Art’s 20th anniversary, Senate President Pro Tempore Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton) stopped by to congratulate the staff and students on their milestone. The school is celebrating its anniversary with an alumni, faculty and student production of “Gypsy.” Sen. Pacheco will be out of the country on an international energy mission during the show’s run, but he joined the cast in rehearsal by singing the song “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.” “Gypsy” opened Thursday, Aug. 20 at The Alley Theatre, located behind The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 23. The 3:00 p.m. matinee on Aug. 23 will conclude with a ‘cupcakes and cocktails’ alumni reception at 5:00 p.m.
Two decades after the school opened in downtown Middleborough, the school continues to bring cultural enrichment to the community. Sen. Pacheco shared his enthusiasm for small businesses, education and the arts during his visit, and even found time to pose for a ‘Senator selfie’ photo. Sen. Pacheco represents the 1st Plymouth and Bristol district in the Massachusetts State Senate.”
