The Burt Wood School adds FILM PRODUCTION classes to their fall line up!
Registration August 2nd, 4-7PM
THURSDAY EVENINGS 4:30PM-5:30PM ages 8-11 $65.00 per month
5:30PM-7:00PM ages 12-18 $75.00 per month (the class meets longer)
The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro, welcomes Shane Kinsman (director, screen writer, producer and owner of Maran Films) to their staff this fall. Shane will be teaching FILM PRODUCTION on Thursday evenings. Students will learn the foundation of digital filmmaking on cutting edge, state of the art, high definition cameras and audio equipment and create their own production from start to finish! Developed with the optimum mix of instruction and hands-on practice, students will be shooting in this program and have numerous hands-on opportunities to develop skills and gain experience. Students will participate in groups to develop a short film project. Groups will write, produce, direct, shoot and edit their own short thesis film. This course will make a filmmaker out of the novice! Classes will meet at the schools new location, 133 Centre Street, on Thursday evenings. Ages 8-11 will meet from 4:30pm-5:30pm, and ages 12-18 will meet from 5:30-7:00PM. Classes begin the week of September 13th, 2010.

LOCAL STUDENTS FILM PROJECT TO APPEAR IN PROVIDENCE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT and AIR AT MIDDLEBORO HIGH SCHOOL
Students of The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, and Boston Casting Inc., teamed up with film maker and owner of Bait Shop Productions, Andrew Osborne once again to enter the national 48 Hour Film Project. After having success in the Boston competition, The Burt Wood/Bait Shop group decided to try their luck in Providence. "DEADSVILLE" aired on Tuesday, July 20th, in Rhode Island. Although the cast is waiting for the results of the competition, they are excited to have their film air in Middleboro on Saturday, July 31st, at 7PM, at The Middleboro High School before a musical production of GODSPELL. Tickets for a double feature of both presentations are $15.00 and are available at the door only. For more information call 508-946-1071.

The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro, in conjunction with Shane Kinsman (director, screen writer, producer and owner of Maran Films) will be participating in the national competition, the 48-Hour Film Project. Past entries by the local performing arts school can be accessed on You-Tube, with the titles of the past projects being "Shoe", “Farm Force”, “de Zomer Kamp” and the successful “SOX POCK” which was chosen for the 2009 BEST OF BOSTON. On June 9th, 2009, the short film (directed by Andrew Osborne) won BEST USE OF PROP, BEST SONG, BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE, and 2nd Runner Up for BEST FILM.
As part of a national competition, The 48 Hour Film Project is destined to be an exciting adventure. The talented director — along with his cast — will create, produce and edit a short film or video in just 48 hours. The project is a thrilling challenge for all level actors, (of all ages) as they must be ready for anything during the two-day production process.
The 48 Hour Film Project will take place over the weekend of May 1st and 2nd, with each team being given a "theme" via an object that must appear in all scenes of the movie. Over the following 48 hours, the teams must not only come up with a plot and script, but must film all of the scenes, produce and edit the film, with the final product being submitted by Sunday, May 2nd, 2010.
Filmmakers from all over New England will participate in the Boston-based division of the competition, with winners from the project then going on to compete against entries from all around the world for the title "Best 48 Hour Film Project of 2010." Screenings for all films will be premiered at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge, located on 370 Binney Street, later in May.
For Burt Wood students, cost to participate in the weekend event is $50 each; for non-Burt Wood students, cost will be $75 each. Filming for the event will be held in Middleboro only. EMMY AWARD WINNER TO DIRECT LOCALS IN Providence 48 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL

MIDDLEBORO — For the fifth year in a row, The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, in conjunction with director Andrew Osborne and Ol' Bait Shop Productions, will be participating in the national competition, The 48-Hour Film Project. For the past four years the groups paired up for the Boston competition. This year, the group will be competing in the Providence, R.I. festival. Past entries by the local performing arts school can be accessed on You-Tube, under "Shoe", “Farm Force”, “de Zomer Kamp” and the award-winning “SOCK POX” which was chosen for the 2009 BEST OF BOSTON and won BEST USE OF PROP, BEST SONG, BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE, and 2nd Runner Up for BEST FILM. Andrew has over 20 years of experience working in the entertainment industry as a comedy/screen writer, game designer, film/video director and actor. He has worked on dozens of independent and major motion picture projects for some of the top studios and production companies in the business, including HBO, MTV, Dark Castle Entertainment, Troma, MPCA/Orion and Warner Bros. Andrew has also worked on numerous projects with film director Jed Weintrob, including The F Word (a quasi-documentary staring Josh Hamilton, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival), Awake (a screenplay for Michael Douglas through Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment), and SuperVision (a multi-media theatrical piece for the Builders Association in New York City). He also co-wrote On_Line, an independent feature which premiered at the 2002 Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.
In 1999, he was hired to write the film Dramarama for Warner Bros. (based on his original pitch), and he wrote and directed Apocalypse Bop, an independent feature which premiered at Boston’s Coolidge Corner Cinema in 1996. Other credits include numerous independent films, theatrical productions, computer games (including Freelancer for Digital Anvil and a new game called Vie for EnVie Interactive) and regular entertainment reporting for Nerve.com. He has also co-written comic books and graphic novels for Platinum Studios and EZD Productions, received an Emmy Award as a staff writer for the 2007 season of the Discovery Channel game show Cash Cab, and studied improvisational acting with Lisa Kudrow (Friends) and Patrick Bristow (Curb Your Enthusiasm) at the famed Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles.
Andrew received a B.A. in English from Harvard University and a Master’s degree in writing from the University of Massachusetts. He also teaches writing, acting and filmmaking classes in and around Boston, MA, and online screenwriting classes for UCLA Extension.
The Providence Rhode Island 48 Hour Film Project will take place over the weekend of July 17-18, 2010, with each team being given a specific genre, as well as a character, prop and line of dialogue that must appear somewhere in the movie. Over the following 48 hours, the teams must not only come up with a plot and script, but must film all of the scenes, produce and edit the film, with the final product being submitted by Sunday, July 18th. For Burt Wood students, cost to participate in the weekend event is $50 each; for non-Burt Wood students, cost will be $75 each. Filming for the event will be held in Middleboro only. November 11, 2009
at The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro. The movie airs on
December 13th, 2009, at 2PM and 5PM
in the grand ballroom of the Middleboro Town Hall located at
10 Nickerson Avenue, in Middleboro.
The film was shot in one day as preparation for the National 48 Hour Film Festival.
Tickets to HOLIDAY SPECIAL
are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children under the age of 16. Admission to the
show includes a production of
A Christmas Carol which begins immediately following the movie.

"MIDAFTERNOON"
Students at the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts' Summer Arts Festival have been working hard this summer! Not only will local students be performing The Wiz, a full-fledged musical, but they have also filmed a movie which will premiere this weekend. "Midafternoon" is written and directed by Middleboro native Andrew
Osborne, who won a Daytime Emmy for his work as a writer on the Discovery Channel's show "Cash Cab." "Midafternoon" is a spooky spoof of the recent vampire craze that has recently been hitting the big and small screen. "Midafternoon" will wow moviegoers prior to the Sunday matinee performance of The Wiz on August 2nd at 1PM. Both will be shown in the air-conditioned Wayne Caron Auditorium at Middleboro High School, and tickets to see the double feature are $15. For more information call 508-946-1071.

The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in partnership with Bait Shop Productions, shot the movie SOCK POX May 1-3, 2009, in Middleboro as part of the national 48 Hour Film Project. Middleboro native Andrew Osborne wrote, cast, directed, filmed, and edited SOCK POX over the course of the 48 hours spanning the weekend. Last year, Andrew won an Emmy for his work for the hit show Cash Cab.
SOCK POX screened at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge, MA on Thursday, May 7, 2009. Ellie Osborne, resident of Middleboro and lead actor in the short film, attended the screening along with many of the cast members. Thirty-six children from all over Southeastern, Massachusetts participated in the project.
Earlier this month, the SOCK POX cast and crew were informed that their film was chosen for this year's "BEST OF BOSTON" screening! The "Best Of" screening was held on Tuesday, June 9th at 7:30 PM at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge.
At the June 9th event, SOCK POX won the following awards: Best Use of Prop Team Bait Shop/Burt Wood for "Sock Pox", Best Song [tie] , "Love to Laugh and Learn" from "Sock Pox" , "Baby Fighter" from "The Tetragon" , Best Supporting Performance [tie] Morgan Mosher for "The Lemonade Stand" , Eleanor Osborne for "Sock Pox" , Second Runner Up for Best Film "Sock Pox" by Team Bait Shop/Burt Wood.

Local Film Project To Air in Boston
The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in partnership with Bait Shop Productions, shot the movie SOCK POX this weekend in Middleboro as part of the national 48 Hour Film Project. Middleboro native Andrew Osborne wrote, cast, directed, filmed, and edited SOCK POX over the course of 48 hours spanning from May 1st through May 3rd. Last year, Andrew won an Emmy for his work for the hit show Cash Cab
The SOCK POX screening is at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge, MA on Thursday, May 7, 2009. The screening starts at 7:00 PM. Please be aware that some of the other films screened may contain adult language and situations.
The Kendall will charge admission for their screening (around $9.00), but SOCK POX will screen free of charge on YouTube, on the Middleboro cable access channel, and possibly in August as part of the Burt Wood Summer Arts Festival.

Local Film Director to Produce Burt Wood School Summer Movie

The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts is excited to announce that Middleboro native Andrew
Osborne will once again be taking on the directorial role for their Summer Arts Festival film
production. In conjunction with20the annual stage production festival, the movie will be shot during
the first three weeks of the festival and then will be shown on the Saturday evening stage production
of The Wiz in August of this year.
Mr. Osborne joins the Burt Wood staff for the sixth summer in a row, having directed past movies of“Rhinoceros” in 2004, “The Assassin” in 2005, “Most People” in 2006, “Dramarama” in 2007, and“The Protectors” in 2008. This year’s movie production has yet to be named, as the talented
screenwriter/producer and director bases each year’s film on the students cast.
A prolific writer, Mr. Osborne has also taught several classes through The Burt Wood School, the
Cambridge Center for Adult Education and the Brookline Adult, Community Education Center and at
Bridgewater State College for Project Contemporary Competitiveness. Having contributed to several
independent film productions, Andrew has also won a Daytime Emmy in 2008 for his writing for the
hit show “Cash Cab”.
Students are encouraged to audition for roles in the movie or the stage production on Monday, June
15th. There are also numerous opportunities to fund raise the tuition for the summer programs, with
