MIDDLEBORO — The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, in conjunction with Lorna Brunelle and with director Andrew Osborne and BaitShop Productions, are participating in the national competition, The 48-Hour Film Project. For the past six years the groups paired up for the Boston competition. This past weekend, July 16th and 17th, students from The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts wrote, directed and acted in their very own original film, created in only 48 hours. Past entries by the local performing arts school can be accessed on You-Tube, under "Shoe", “Farm Force”, “de Zomer Kamp”, “SOX POCK” (which was chosen for the 2009 BEST OF BOSTON and won BEST USE OF PROP, BEST SONG, BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE, and 2nd Runner Up for BEST FILM), “DEADSVILLE” and “AGNETHA.” As part of a national competition, The 48 Hour Film Project is an exciting adventure. Filmmakers from all over New England participate in the Providence-based division of the competition, with winners from the project then going on to compete against entries from all around the world for the title "Best 48 Hour Film Project of 2011."
Andrew has over 20 years of experience working in the entertainment industry as a comedy/screen writer, game designer, film/video director and actor. He has worked on dozens of independent and major motion picture projects for some of the top studios and production companies in the business, including HBO, MTV, Dark Castle Entertainment, Troma, MPCA/Orion and Warner Bros. Andrew has also worked on numerous projects with film director Jed Weintrob, including The F Word (a quasi-documentary staring Josh Hamilton, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival), Awake (a screenplay for Michael Douglas through Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment), and SuperVision (a multi-media theatrical piece for the Builders Association in New York City). He also co-wrote On_Line, an independent feature which premiered at the 2002 Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. In 1999, he was hired to write the film Dramarama for Warner Bros. (based on his original pitch) which was presented as a staged reading earlier this year at The Alley Theatre.
