New Belly Blast Cardio Class
brings Middle East to
Middleboro and Berkley

Professional belly dancer Aurel D’Agostino (director of Ancient Art Studios) is bringing the Middle East to Middleboro at The Alley Theatre this fall with a new Belly Blast Cardio Class. Featuring music from the Middle East, this cardio dance-jam lowers stress, renews femininity and lifts spirits. Culture will inspire confidence from the inside out. This 10 week session runs from September 20-November 29. Classes will not be held the week of Thanksgiving. Today’s modern women are seeking workouts with more than just mindless repetition and meaningless gestures. Belly Blast is the ticket to far off lands, ancient movements, and celebrating the female body in all its sizes and shapes. The hour-long belly blast classes taught by professional belly dancer Aurel D’Agostino are full of easy-to-follow belly dance steps and fun combinations. Hip-adorning scarves, finger cymbals, and veils will be a part of every class and are available for purchase. Participants should bring water, a hand towel, and an exercise mat for the cool-down. Belly Blast will meet at The Alley Theatre located at 133 Center Street in Middleboro (behind the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts) on Tuesdays nights beginning 9/20 - 11/29 from 5:45-6:45pm. There is also a Friday class (beginning 9/23 and ending on 12/2) at the Ancient Art Studios located at 590 Berkley Street in Berkley. For more information call 508-822-6449 Ancient Art Studios, 590 Berkley St. Berkley, MA 02779 or visit www.ancientartstudios.com

Alley Theatre opens with 'Doubt'

MIDDLEBORO — Nemasket River Productions will have the honor of presenting the first theatrical performance in the new Alley Theatre in downtown Middleboro next month. It's a milestone that has both the community theater troupe and the theater's artistic director filled with anticipation.

The theater is located within the new home of the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts on Center Street. The building is receiving the finishing touches and classes began in the school's new performance and training space last week. Founder and artistic director Lorna Brunelle is seeing her vision for the future unfold already with NRP preparing for its Oct. 8 opening of the acclaimed drama "Doubt: A Parable."

"My goal for The Alley Theatre is to provide audiences of all ages with quality theatre and entertainment," Ms. Brunelle said. "We have worked very hard to create a functional and beautiful space, and are honored to have NRP launch our artistic commitment of excellence in the community."

Merrie Mizaras, artistic director of NRP, is equally enthusiastic about the new partnership and the new creative space.

Burt Wood School is back in town
"Instead of having all of my recitals off site, which gets expensive because we have to rent the Town Hall or the Nichols Middle School, we can host them in house. We can also open it up to local theater troupes, art shows, bands, etc.," said Burt Wood School Artistic Director
Lorna Brunelle.
