The Artist’s Way Workshop facilitated by Heather Campeau The Creative Classroom for Grown Ups series in Middleboro will kick off with The Artist’s Way workshop facilitated by Heather Campeau. Based on the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron adults will discover and tap into their creativity. The Artist’s Way is considered “The seminal book on the subject of creativity.” This six-week course guides readers through exercises to help “blocked creatives” find inspiration for all genres of art. The main “tools” of the course are the morning pages and artist dates. If you are looking for encouragement to try out for a play, pick up a new instrument, learn a second language, redecorate your house, start or finish a novel, or take up photography, this course is for you. Every week participants will meet to engage in hands-on activities to unlock creativity. Poetry, icebreakers, painting and music will be implemented to assist creatives in pursuing their own artistic journey. All participants will receive a copy of the mentor text The Artist’s Way and students are encouraged to complete the weekly “homework” assignments. During the course of the workshop, students will have opportunities to display their work during an annual art faire and local recitals. Please note that there will be no specific instruction in technique in any one area of art, drawing or writing. Instead, these activities will be used in the context of promoting greater creativity. Facilitator Heather Campeau is a former piano instructor at Burt Wood School of Performing Arts. She is has been an English teacher at Taunton High School for ten years. Mrs. Campeau was inspired to lead the workshop after participating in the Buzzards Bay Writing Project at UMass-Dartmouth this summer. She says, “Working with other people to improve my writing increased my creativity exponentially. We laughed, cried, and ate together and quickly became a “family”. I hope this workshop will be a similar, close-knit community where people are encouraged and supported.” Heather is interested in photography, scrapbooking, and mixed-media art. She has completed three marathons and has had several articles published on parenting, education, travel, and spirituality. The class will meet for six weeks on October 1, 8, 22, 29 and November 5 and 12 from 6:00 p.m.-7:30p.m. Tuition is $120.00. The Artist’s Way work book is included in the tuition.
